Unseen Arts Solo Act Creation Course
The Unseen Arts Solo Act Creation Course is an 8-week professional training programme designed for adults (18+) who want to create and perform their own burlesque or cabaret solo. Suitable for total beginners through to experienced performers, this course guides participants through the full creative process, from developing a concept, building choreography, and crafting stage presence, to refining and polishing a finished act.
The course is led and taught by the BoobyTrap Burlesque, a dynamic cabaret & burlesque company founded by Tawny Kay in 2015. Based in Doncaster, UK, Boobey Trap Burlesque is committed to presenting the most diverse cast of world-class performers from the drag, circus, and burlesque communities, blending theatrical storytelling, circus artistry, and burlesque into bold, inclusive, and visually striking performances. Tawny is the co-producer of Highway To Hull & The Burlesque Ball & also produces Star Search. Tawny also runs cabaret/burlesque courses in Doncaster and is committed to giving emerging artists a platform to thrive, Tawny is also an Industry partner on Bold Bodies with Leeds Uni Researcher & author Jacki Willson. Grimsby Central Hall & Amy Fancourt, will act as a key enabler for the course. With a long and rich history in theatre and the arts, the venue & creative team has a strong reputation for championing emerging artists. They will support the project from the ground up by providing dedicated rehearsal and performance spaces, ensuring participants have the resources and environment needed to bring their creative visions to life. The programme is produced by Lady La Belle, Artistic Director of Unseen Arts, whose work primarily spans theatre. She brings her experience in producing and directing performance projects to ensure the course is professionally delivered while offering a creative, supportive, and inspiring environment for participants to engage in the arts at a reasonable cost. cost
The price for the full 9 week course is £70, which equals about £7.70 for a 2 hour session. This has been priced to afford opportunities to emerging artists & to give opportunity for participants to access professional industry training on your doorstep. Payment plans are available on ‘book a class’.

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone! You can be a complete beginner or come from another creative background dance, theatre, visual arts, or performance in any form. All skill levels are welcome.
Do I need to be confident on stage already?
Not at all! The course is designed to guide you step-by-step, helping you develop confidence, stage presence, and performance skills along the way.
What will I learn?
You will learn how to:
Develop a performance concept
Build choreography
Craft stage presence and character
Refine and polish a finished solo act
Prepare for live performance
How long is each session?
Each weekly session lasts approximately 2 hours over 9 weeks.
Is there a final performance?
Yes! The course culminates in a showcase where participants present their finished solo acts.
Can I pay in instalments?

What if I miss a session?
We encourage attendance at all sessions, but missed sessions can be supported. Just let us know!
Do I need to have any experience?
NO! The course is designed to support your individual skill level and creative ideas.
