Join us in Immingham this summer for a unique series of creative workshops hosted by Freestyle Academy as part of the Own Your Heritage - Landmarks & Legends project in partnership with Unseen Arts and The Culture House.
Suitable for ages 7-16, these hands-on sessions blend music-making and sound technology with storytelling, exploring local myths, legends, and community heritage in new and meaningful ways
🎤 What’s in store:
• Discover and discuss local landmarks and legends
• Learn how to translate narratives into sound and music
• Experiment with music production and audio technology
• Collaborate and create original sound pieces inspired by local landmarks and legends

TV & Content Creation (GRIMSBY)
This is a two part creative workshop for young people aged 11-18
10-12noon - VIDEO STORYTELLING WORKSHOP WITH HAMMOND HOUSE PRODUCTIONS
12:00 - 12:30 - LUNCH (please bring packed lunch and refreshments)
12:30 - 14:00 - LANDMARKS & LEGENDS WALK & TALK WITH CONNOR STANNARD
VIDEO STORYTELLING WITH HAMMOND HOUSE PRODUCTIONS
This practical interactive workshop will demonstrate how to capture broadcast quality footage using the camera on your smartphone.
Learn practical skills for creating content for websites and social media as well as film and television. Dozens of Hollywood movies have been shot using smartphones including Tangerine, High Flying Bird and Olive. Professional videographers regularly use this portable filmmaking medium.
This interactive practical workshop will run by industry professionals who make TV magazine programmes, documentary films and social media content. You will learn how to use †he settings on your smartphone and basic equipment including rigs, tripods, microphones and lighting. You will practice storytelling, planning shoots, framing and special techniques like slow motion, time lapse. You will learn how to interview people, practice scripting and delivering pieces to camera and learn how to capture or curate Broll footage including establishing shots and closeups.

Taking the skills that you have learned in the morning, you will then go on a short walk and talk around Grimsby town centre with local hisorian Connor Stannard, to learn about key Landmarks & famous Legends and put your skills into practice by capturing content for the Own Your Heritage Landmarks & Legends project.
